![]() ![]() For my part, I am left wishing that David Webb Peoples had been given more opportunities behind the director's chair, and a compulsion to rewatch Hero. The Blood of Heroes, an Album by The Blood of Heroes. I'll take Juggers over Rollerball any day. Though post-apocalyptic sports films aren't new ground, The Blood of Heroes raises the stakes, with combat that is nastier, and certainly more gruesome, yet it never feels like mean spirited sadistic trash. While it lends itself to bleak settings, David Eggby's cinematography along with high end production design and art direction, makes this Cooper Pedy a unique hell. Our wasteland is Cooper Pedy, Australia - which also hosted Beyond Thunderdome, Priscilla, Pitch Black - and pops up in the second season of Instant Hotel. As for Peoples style as a director, he fully realizes a nightmarish future despite clear budget issues, and the games themselves are memorably visceral. Hauer's star ties it nicely to Peoples' biggest sci-fi hit, and more than the rest of the writer's work, this feels like a bridge between the worlds of Blade Runner and its unofficial sequel Soldier. They hope one day to play in the league in a city.
